Print Questions
Do you offer prints on paper?
Currently, prints are only offered as metal prints. Metal prints are my favorite for quality, both in regards to the physical product and in how the images look on the material. However, I do plan to expand to prints on paper in the future, once I have had the chance to test different papers and find the ones that give the best results for my photos.
How do you print on metal/do you make the prints yourself?
Printing on metal requires materials and machinery that I do not possess, so I work with a lab that I trust to produce the prints for you! I prepare the image files for each print, making sure the colors and resolution are just right, then send the file to the lab to have them do the physical work of transferring those images onto the aluminum.
What if I want a particular image or size that isn’t listed?
I am happy to work with you regarding custom prints. If you’ve seen a photo of mine that isn’t in the shop and you’d like as a print, or if you are interested in a size that isn’t listed, please fill out the contact form on my Contact page and we’ll chat!
Shop Questions
What’s your return policy?
Due to the nature of digital photography and the fact that, once sent, photographs cannot be returned, there is a strict no refunds policy on all digital purchases.
Prints are custom art pieces made to order. Returns of printed images are subject to a strict 14-day return policy for a full refund, not including shipping. Shipping of all returns is not covered by Melanie LeDuc Photography. To request a return for photographic prints, please fill out this contact form, with the subject requesting a return. Forms submitted more than 14 days from date of original delivery will not be valid for processing of returns.
How long does shipping take?
Turnaround from order placement to delivery can take up to 3 weeks for prints using standard delivery and up to 2 weeks for expedited shipping. Due to staffing shortages and production delays, things are moving a little slower than usual. Please allow ample time for shipping!
Where do you ship to?
Current shipping options are for within the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.
For international shipping and shipping to Hawaii or Alaska, shipping is billed at cost and will depend on the item(s) ordered. Please contact me using this form if you require shipping outside the lower 48 states and DC.
Photography/Gear Questions
What gear do you use/recommend?
I shoot with two camera bodies: a Canon 80D crop sensor and a Canon 5D Mark IV full frame. The lenses I use are the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, EF-S 24mm f/2.8, and EF 24mm f/2.8 as well as a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8.
As for what I recommend: it depends. You can take decent pictures with any working camera if you know how to use it. I equate cameras to cars - the car is only as good as its driver. If you’re learning to drive, would you buy a McLaren GT to do it? A practiced driver is going to get more out of a Toyota Camry than you would out of that McLaren. Cameras are the same. Canon’s Rebel series, Nikon’s D3500, or the Sony Alpha 6000 are all great starter options while you learn how to shoot in Manual mode (and I do recommend learning in Manual). YouTube has some great resources for learning the tools you need to craft a great image, and I especially like FStoppers as a resource for all things photography.
